Mao (F & S II.99) concludes Warhol’s Mao portfolio with a powerful summation of the artist’s conceptual goals. This print, like the others in the series, questions how political images lose meaning through saturation. By repeating the face of a global figure and subjecting it to aesthetic treatment, Warhol detaches the image from its source, inviting the viewer to consider not who Mao was, but what his image represents in a media-dominated world. This work is offered exclusively as part of the complete ten-print portfolio, in excellent condition, fully authenticated and available through Coskun Fine Art.
