Mao (F & S II.98) demonstrates Warhol’s sustained interrogation of how mass-reproduced images shape cultural memory. By the early 1970s, Warhol had already deconstructed the visual languages of celebrity and branding; the Mao series extended this analysis into political terrain. In treating Mao’s image with the same process used for consumer products, Warhol emphasised the collapse of ideological content into aesthetic surface. This edition is included in the complete Mao portfolio, offered by Coskun Fine Art in excellent condition with full documentation and expert advisory.
