Mao (F & S II.97) forms part of Warhol’s critical intervention into global media imagery. The Mao prints were created during a time of increased Western awareness of China’s Cultural Revolution, yet Warhol’s portrayal is stripped of political judgement. Instead, the print presents Mao as an image detached from meaning, one that can be replicated and recontextualised like any other. This conceptual neutrality was central to Warhol’s practice. Available only as part of the complete ten-print Mao portfolio, this edition is presented by Coskun Fine Art in excellent condition, with authentication and provenance provided.
