In Beethoven (F&S II.392), Warhol expands his engagement with repetition and interruption. Musical notation from Moonlight Sonata becomes increasingly dominant, pressing against the portrait and breaking its form. The effect suggests both homage and erasure—Warhol places Beethoven into the same visual logic as his depictions of Marilyn or Mao: iconic, flattened, and eternally reprinted. Signed and numbered lower right. This work is offered in excellent condition with full authentication and documentation.
